In protest of defection arrest: 38 protesters arrested in clash with police forces

Dozens of members of the Jerusalem faction blocked the intersection of Jaffa and Israel's streets in the capital, protesting the arrest of Yeshiva student Daniel Mahdani, who did not report to the recruitment bureau to sign his deferral. According to his father, had his son received the summons, he would have been in the recruitment bureau

38 demonstrators from the Jerusalem faction were arrested Sunday during a protest against the extension of the detention of an ultra-Orthodox young man arrested on IDF defections. Police forces reached the intersection of Jaffa and Shari'a streets, where the demonstration is taking place, in order to take control of order violations and prevent deputies from blocking. Additional police forces were reportedly deployed at intersections in the area and directing traffic to other roads and taking care of the flow.

Earlier today, the court extended the arrest of Yeshiva student Daniel Mehdeni until Thursday. Mahdani, the son of the Ethiopian community's leader in Or Yehuda - Nadav Mahdani, did not report to the recruitment bureau to sign his deferral, subject to the teaching of Rabbi Shmuel Auerbach, leader of the Jerusalem faction who passed away. Mehdani's father said that if his son had received the summons, he would have been required to do so by law.
