During the past week, the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection organized 1071 checks distributed on not announcing prices, not observing pricing, selling at an excessive price, and trading in subsidized supplies with the closure of 713 violating business activities.

Deputy Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection Jamal Shuaib said in a statement to SANA today that 64 companies have been seized and 18 of them have been closed for not announcing the prices.

Shuaib explained that legal measures and deterrent penalties have been taken against violators in accordance with the provisions of Law 14 of 2015, which is “a financial fine, referral exists for the judiciary, closing the shop or commercial activity and withdrawing licenses for distributors and accreditors of materials supported by the state.”

According to Shuaib, the monitoring and tightening rounds on the markets were tightened and intensified, and the owners of all “commercial and industrial” economic activities were required to adhere to the provisions of the law, especially in terms of declaring the prices of the materials presented clearly and legally and adhering to them and not charging an increase in the prices set to include all food and non-food items, household appliances and electrical appliances And cell phones, building materials, cars, service allowance prices, and violations related to restaurants.

Shuaib stated that the penalty for manipulating the articles of the "smart" electronic card or cheating with its materials is up to the referral present to the judiciary, seizing the violation vehicle and revoking the license if necessary, according to the violation committed.

Shuaib stressed that market supervision continues around the clock by the ministry, in addition to receiving citizen complaints and immediate treatment by consumer protection directorates duly.
