(CNN) - Retired Los Angeles Lakers player Kobe Bryant died Sunday in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, according to XXXX

Kobe Bean Bryant entered the NBA directly from high school. In 1996 he was the youngest player in the history of the NBA at that time, at 18, 2 months and 11 days. He played his entire professional career with Los Angeles Lakers.

Among his honors are 5 NBA championships and 2 Olympic gold medals with men's basketball.
