After his interrogation ended about a year ago, the State Attorney's Office decided to prosecute MK David Bitten (Likud), subject to a hearing. The hearing will be held before Avichai Mandelblit, just after Passover. The hearing will be held on suspicion of bribery, money laundering and fraudulently receiving 12 different cases, the most famous of which is the Danya-Cebus affair.

According to the suspicion, between 2015 and 2013 Bitten allegedly received bribes amounting to NIS 513,000 from the contracting company Danya Cebus Ltd., through his associate MI, for assistance in two projects.

Bitten's interrogation was conducted in the police unit's Blade 433, in a case known as file 1803. According to the investigation, hundreds of testimonies were collected and dozens of suspects were intercepted, Bitten received as part of his public duties: when he served as deputy mayor of Rishon Lezion and then as MK, a financial bribe In return, "Bitan exerted his authority, influence, and strength of his connections on various factors. This has led to changes in decisions, permits and reductions in municipal payments. "

According to the State Prosecutor's Office, "The case deals with government corruption and money laundering allegedly passed by MK David Bitten and others in a long line of cases, from 2011 to the date of the outbreak of the open investigation on 3.12.17. At the beginning of the said period, Bitten served in various senior positions in the municipality. Rishon Lezion, including the Deputy Mayor and Chairman of the Planning and Construction Committee, began in March 2015 as a Member of the Knesset and held additional parliamentary positions and for some of the period served as chairman of the coalition. "

At the conclusion of the investigation, police believed there was sufficient evidence to substantiate the suspicions against Bitten, in 12 cases.

Attorneys Dror Matityahu and Ephraim Demri, who represent MK Biten, commented: "MK Biten never received any funds or benefits for actions related to his job as a public servant. All the decisions made by MK Biten, while in public office, were important decisions made on the basis of professional judgment, in the public eye only and in his eyes. After the weighty evidence and allegations under us are revealed, the fog will dissipate and a radically different picture will be revealed than that reflected in the letter of suspicion.
