The Criminal Security Department seized three offices for the sale and trade of cars in the two "Damr and Mazraa Project" cities in Damascus that deal in a currency other than the Syrian pound, as part of the efforts taken by the Ministry of Interior to prosecute violators of Legislative Decree No. 3 of 2020, which includes prohibiting dealing in a currency other than the national currency.

The ministry stated on its Facebook page that, through follow-up and monitoring, three people were arrested in possession of various foreign currencies, documents and papers proving their dealings other than the lira, in addition to a laptop computer that includes currency exchange rates on the black market and amounts of money worth five million and three hundred thousand pounds.

The ministry indicated that a gun with three ammunition and a gold jewelery had been confiscated, indicating that, with the arrest, the detainees confessed to buying and selling modern and used cars in US dollars after calculating their price according to the black market price.

The Ministry pointed out that the confiscated financial amounts had been handed over to the Central Bank of Syria in due process and the necessary legal measures taken against those arrested, as investigations are still ongoing with them and they will be presented with the confiscations to the relevant judiciary.
