An Afghan Airlines passenger plane crashed today in the central Ghazni province.

Reuters quoted the spokesman for the provincial governor's office, Corporal Nuri, as saying ... that a Boeing plane belonging to the Afghan state-owned Ariana Afghan Air Force crashed in the De Yak region of the province without knowing the cause of the crash or the number of casualties so far.

In turn, the British Daily Mirror newspaper reported that the plane was carrying more than 80 people and had crashed in Taliban-controlled territory as it was heading from Herat to Kabul.
