Russia's Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zasbekin stressed the need to continue combating terrorism in Syria and that the United States is the one that creates problems in the region and its countries.
Zasbkin pointed out during a meeting in the Lebanese Press Syndicate in Beirut today that Syria, with the support of its allies, is continuing to fight terrorism and said, "Russia's goal is to combat terrorism as it is Iran's goal," noting the strong relations between the three countries.
Zasbekin recalled that Russia had once called for the formation of an international coalition against terrorism, but that these calls were not heard by the West, stressing at the same time that the American presence in Syria and Iraq is illegal and that the issue relates to the sovereignty of the two states.
On the Lebanese issue, Zasbekin called for creating a "mechanism" for managing the crisis in Lebanon that would be acceptable to the majority of the Lebanese parties concerned.
As for Libya, Zasbekin reiterated Russia's position calling for continuing efforts with various parties to follow up on the common vision of the outputs of the Berlin Conference, which calls for non-interference in the affairs of this country and that the solution to the crisis in it is through a comprehensive political process.
