After years of trying to reach a consensual reform, the historic agreement was signed yesterday that guarantees the readiness of the port of Haifa for the era of competition that is underway. The agreement represents a major and significant step in the reform of the sea ports, and it anchors a series of girls to help the port become more efficient.
The signing of the agreement was attended by the parties who were leading partners in its formulation, including: Chairman of the Histadrut Arnon Bar-David, Chairman of the Transportation Workers Association Avi Edri, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Haifa Eshel Armoni Port, Director General of the Port Mandi Saltzman, Director of the Government Companies Authority Yankee Point, Deputy Director of the Government Companies Authority Meir Shmara, Deputy Director of Wages Effi Malkin, Director of Shipping and Ports Authority Yigal Maor, Chairman of the Histadrut at Haifa Port Moshe Mizrahi, Representatives of the Haifa Port Committees and Representatives of the Ministry of Finance.
With the entry into force of the agreements, a large number of streamlining measures agreed upon between the various sectors will be implemented, which will ensure a significant increase in output at the port of Haifa, and will enable the Haifa port company to absorb more cargo without the need to increase manpower in the company.
The efficiency measures enshrined in the agreement include, among other things, a voluntary retirement plan for 200 port employees.
