Today, President Bashar al-Assad received the Special Envoy of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Syria, Alexander Lavroviev, the Russian Deputy Foreign Minister, Sergei Vercinin, and the accompanying delegation.

The meeting discussed the situation in Aleppo and Idlib in light of the daily terrorist attacks on safe areas and the resulting civilian casualties, as there was agreement on the importance of the operations carried out by the Syrian Arab Army with Russian support to end these attacks in those areas and protect civilians from terrorist organizations and their crimes .

The meeting also touched on the political process, as it was emphasized that the two sides support the work of the constitutional debate committee away from any external interference or politicization practiced by some parties that could cause the suspension of its work or put obstacles in the way of continuing its meetings.

The talks also touched on the strategic relations between the two countries and the continuous work of both sides to continue developing and strengthening them in various fields.

The meeting was attended by Major General Ali Mamlouk, Head of the National Security Office, Dr. Ayman Sosan, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Emigrants, Luna al-Shibl, Director of the Political and Information Office at the Presidency of the Republic, and the Ambassador of Russia in Damascus.
