Cui Dingbang, director general of the Hong Kong Tourism Promotion Association, pointed out that if there is a voice in the society, customs clearance will be handed over to the government for decision, and if the customs clearance is beneficial to Hong Kong society, the tourism industry will follow the decision.

The vice chairman of the Hong Kong Travel Agents Association, Wang Zhiwei, said that the social turmoil in the past six months, coupled with the impact of the epidemic, has had a significant impact on the tourism industry. He said that his travel agency had originally received more than 20 Southeast Asian tour groups in January, and now there are only five. In February, it had received more than 20 Thai tour groups, but all of them have been cancelled. He said that many travel agencies eclipse 300,000 to 400,000 each month. "It is now in a very cold winter. I hope the government can subsidize travel agencies."

He predicted that if the epidemic is expected to end in May, tourists will not come to Hong Kong in June or July. He expects that the travel agency will have a wave of business after the New Year, hoping that the government can increase its efforts to control the epidemic and improve the tourism business. Ye Zhiwei, chairman of the Travel Workers' Federation, also pointed out that many tour guides have switched to other part-time jobs, and he hopes that the epidemic will soon decline and the tourism industry will recover.
