The quantities of water stored in surface dams in Al-Hasakah governorate as a result of rainfalls during the current season reached about 13 million cubic meters.
Engineer Abdul Razzaq Al-Awak, Director of Water Resources in Al-Hasakah Governorate, told a SANA reporter that the quantities stored are mostly in the Al-Basel Dam on the Al-Khabour River in the southern governorate countryside, noting that the rain played a big role in improving river runoff, especially the Gaggag and Khabour rivers.
Al-Awak stressed the importance of increasing the stockpiles in terms of compensation for the quantities of water consumed in irrigation of crops within the licensed areas on the Khabour River bed, up to the administrative borders of Deir Al-Zour Governorate, pointing out that the amount that can be consumed in launching irrigation irrigations is 20 million cubic meters, pointing out that the Directorate is ready to give additional irrigation in In case of need.
It is noteworthy that the current volume of water storage in the ten dams of Hasaka governorate is 641 million cubic meters, of which 542 million cubic meters are in Al-Basel Dam.
