The number of beneficiaries of the "India for Humanity" initiative launched in cooperation between the Ministries of Social Affairs, Labor and Health and the Indian Embassy in Damascus has reached 515 persons injured in the terrorist war on Syria and persons with disabilities from various governorates.

The initiative, which was implemented by a technical medical team from India under the supervision of the Indian “Mahawir Rehabilitation Association for the Disabled”, ended its work yesterday evening and contributed to providing upper and lower industrial parties to the beneficiaries directly within the Vocational Rehabilitation Institute for Persons with Disabilities in Damascus through nominal lists prepared by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor in coordination with the Ministry of Health My association is a step for artificial limbs and excellence to ensure orphan.

The director of the Vocational Rehabilitation Institute for Persons with Disabilities, Dr. Hadi Mashhadiyah, explained in a statement to SANA the importance of the initiative that started on the twenty-fifth of last December in supporting and enabling persons with physical disabilities resulting from injuries due to terrorist attacks, accidents or moral or pathological causes and returning them to normal life And integrate them into society.

According to Mashhadia, taking the measurements, manufacturing the limbs, delivering them to the beneficiaries, and training them to use them on the same day, pointing out that on an average basis, the initiative delivered parties to about 15 people daily, indicating that a number of them benefited by installing more than one party.

Dr. Mashhadia pointed out that the people who benefited from the initiative were introduced to the services provided by the Institute for Vocational Rehabilitation from vocational training courses in a number of specialties in addition to sports activities and training to attract them to study at the institute during the next academic year, which facilitates their entry into the labor market.

It is noteworthy that the initiative comes within the framework of friendship and cooperation relations between Syria and India and that the Indian "Mahawir Rehabilitation for Disabled" Association, which supervises the initiative, was founded in 1975 and has installed artificial limbs since its foundation for more than one million and 800 thousand people for free in a number of countries in the world.

The prosthesis installation service is available free of charge in Syria through centers of the Ministry of Health, Military Medical Services, the Syrian Arab Red Crescent, and non-governmental organizations.
