The percentage of rainfed wheat cultivation in various areas of Homs exceeded 97 percent and irrigated wheat more than 74 percent of the agricultural plan for the current season.
Engineer Yunus Hamdan, head of the plant production department in the Homs Agricultural Directorate, told a SANA reporter that the implemented area of the irrigated wheat plan amounted to 8,250 hectares of the plan of 11,149 hectares, while rainfed wheat reached 28235 hectares of the plan of 29,013 hectares.
Hamdan pointed out that the percentage of cultivating irrigated barley and Baal reached between 70 and 81 percent, as the implemented area of irrigated barley amounted to 426 hectares of the plan of 608 hectares, while Baal barley reached 39,735 hectares of the scheme of 48,938 hectares.
Hamdan added that the percentage of cultivating irrigated love beans reached 81 percent, with an implemented area of 281 hectares of the scheme of 349 hectares, while beans of rain-fed love amounted to 95 percent, with an implemented area of 752 hectares of the scheme of 790, while the rate of cultivation of irrigated peas reached 76 percent and lentils were rainbow 83 percent. Hamdan stressed that the general percentage of winter crops is good and agriculture continues for all winter crops, noting that the rains that swept through the province a few days ago are good for speeding up germination.
