5 keys to Trump's peace plan in the Middle East 2:57

(CNN) - The president of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas, referred to the new US peace plan on Tuesday as "the slap of the century" in a pun (Trump called it "the agreement of the century") .

Speaking at the presidential complex in Ramallah in the West Bank, he said the Palestinian position has not changed in the two years since the United States recognized Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel.

"We say again: no, no, not the agreement of the century."

Abbas said Jerusalem is not for sale, reacting to President Trump's recently revealed Middle East peace plan, at a press conference on Tuesday.

“I want to tell Trump and Netanyahu: Jerusalem is not for sale. All our rights are not for sale or commitment. Their agreement is a conspiracy and will not work, ”said Abbas.

He added that the Palestinian people will reject the proposal and "put it in the containers of history."

"We will not kneel and we will not give up," Abbas continued. The annexation of 30% of our territory makes no sense, he said, and categorically rejected the agreement.

“Jerusalem is gone. Can we accept a state without Jerusalem? Impossible! ”He said.

Abbas said that the Palestinian people “deserve a life” and that they would be willing to return to negotiations if it included international participation.

“We tell the world: we are not a terrorist nation nor have we ever been. We are committed to the fight against terrorism. But the world must understand that these people deserve a life. ”

He went on to say that the Palestinians are "committed to negotiations based on international legitimacy," referring to previous agreements and UN resolutions.

Abbas said that what was needed was a meeting with international participants.

“I will not accept the United States by itself. I know I can't ignore the United States, but the United States is not the whole world. I would accept the Quartet, ”he said, referring to the diplomatic group comprising the European Union, the United States, Russia and the United Nations.
