The management of Herzog High School in Hashmonay decided to deactivate the school on Tuesday due to a violent case by some students towards one of the teachers. The decision came in conjunction with the teachers' organization and after police arrested the involved students, who were released following a five-day house arrest investigation under restrictive conditions.

The incident that led to her high school reinstatement at the Carrot Regional Council took place several days ago at the teacher's home, which reported that several boys threw bottles at the apartment causing a loud explosion. The case ended with no injuries or damage.

Police say that as the investigation began, the names of three boys who were attending high school were suspected of performing the act. The 16-year-old students were located, questioned by the Ramla Police Department and linked themselves to the case and released under restrictive conditions. Police made it clear that these were not bottles, and the boys performed chemical action on the plastic bottles, causing them to swell and burst. It also emerged from the investigation that students committed the act in response to the fact that some of their friends were expelled and suspended from school following another violent incident.

At the Carrot Regional Council, we first noted that the school is sitting for only two hours. However, the teachers' organization decided to hold the strike throughout the day.

"There is no room for violent and disrespectful behavior towards teaching staff in our education system. This is an unusual and serious case, which is of course handled by the police," the council said. "We will do everything so that such cases do not change."

Councilor Rotem Yadlin has set up a task team, led by the head of the education department at Shelley Keren Council, to address high school school climate. The team, with members of the school's educational staff and the Branco Weiss Institute, will present a detailed and multi-system program. "The Carrot Regional Council will be a safe and respectful place - for its students and teaching staff as it has been up to this exceptional case," the council added.
The teachers' organization said: "We will show zero tolerance for violence against teachers."
