Almost half of the parking spaces could disappear. It is in any case the wish of the outgoing mayor Anne Hidalgo (Paris en Commun) who had announced in our columns at the beginning of the month to want a Paris 100% bike in 2024.
She gave more details on Tuesday during the presentation of her plan dedicated to this new practice which she hopes to see develop even further. Thus, some 60,000 parking spaces for surface cars, or 60 hectares, will be eliminated to create secure tracks for cyclists. A huge figure since the City of Paris today has some 133,000 spaces available for motorists.
A puzzle in perspective for motorists. How will they park? Private or public underground car parks should be favored, like those of social landlords.
