Photo: Reuters, edited by Tal ReznikRepresentatives of the Palestinian Authority and Hamas will meet (Tuesday) for an emergency meeting in Ramallah following the publication of the US government peace plan, which the Palestinians oppose. Hamas senior Nasr al-Din a-Sha'ar explained that at the meeting, the parties will discuss "a position to be taken against Trump's plan."
In anticipation of the plan, Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas and Hamas political bureau chief Ismail Haniyeh talked and agreed to cooperate to thwart the century's deal. At the same time, protests against the US peace plan are expected in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
In the shadow of reports that the plan will support the idea of the two states, but the future Palestinian state will be significantly different in character from what the Palestinians want, PA senior Saeb Erekat stressed that "the Arab world is united behind the free Palestine vision". Eriqat tweeted in his Twitter account that "In 2002, the Arab world offered peace and normalization to Israel through the Arab peace initiative. They never responded. According to Trump's team, this vision of coexistence based on international law is 'unrealistic'."

Hamas spokesman Hazem Qasim said: "Unified and united opposition can thwart all plans to eliminate the Palestinian issue, most notably the century deal. The occupation will not gain security through the century deal or through other promises as long as it occupies our land and holy places." The organization's senior official, Khalil al-Khaya, joined him, threatening: "The occupation is on fire and anyone approaching Jerusalem will end the battle."
The top monitoring committee of the Arab public in Israel will also convene tonight. The committee called on the Arab public to unite, thus sending a message to the United States that the plan would not work. "The rights and fate of the Palestinian people do not depend on the outcome of the negotiations between Israel and America," they said. "The Monitoring Committee calls on Arab parties, committees and local authorities to take action against the conspiracy known as the 'Century Deal'."
