The Ministry of Interior announced today that the Criminal Security Department seized a commercial company in Damascus Tower that deals in a currency other than the Syrian pound by selling goods based on foreign exchange rates.
The ministry stated in a statement that Sana received a copy of it today that based on the information received by the Anti-Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing Division in the Criminal Security Department about a commercial company selling cell phone accessories in Damascus Tower dealing with a non-Syrian pound and after investigating the headquarters of the aforementioned company in coordination with the judicial police The Central Syria The Criminal Security Department found foreign currencies and money amounting to one hundred and ninety seven million two hundred and nine thousand Syrian pounds and bills proving that the company was doing business other than the Syrian lira with its commercial activities that were seized and on four computers Portable and two cameras.
The Ministry indicated that the sums have been handed over to the Central Bank of Syria as assets and investigations are still ongoing with the company’s employees to take the necessary legal measures against them.
This comes within the framework of the efforts exerted by the police units to follow the dealers other than the Syrian pound, and to prosecute those who manipulate their exchange rates until their arrest and bring them to justice.
