The outbreak of pneumonia in Wuhan in mainland China, but the Hong Kong government's delay in closing customs has made Hong Kong people startled. Recently, masks have been snapped up, and all types of masks in most stores on the market have been snapped up. It is difficult to find a way for the citizens to do everything. Many people try to order from foreign websites, but there are rumors that Hong Kong Customs has listed masks as prohibited products and strictly controls import and export ...

Regarding rumors of ordinary civilian mask products being listed as prohibited items, Hong Kong Sea made a formal clarification on the 28th, stating that the above information is false. Rumors: "Surgical masks are not prohibited items and controlled items. Customs will not hinder surgery. Masks are imported into Hong Kong legally. "Everyone can continue to buy with confidence, but many foreign websites are out of stock, such as Gmarket in South Korea and Amazon in the United States and Japan. Many people have stated that they have been cut, and it is not easy to buy. And some merchants in Hong Kong, such as Watsons and Abu Tai, sell masks at "conscience prices" today, which have attracted a large number of people to line up to buy, which is very exaggerated.

Since the emergence of Wuhan pneumonia, many citizens have ordered masks from foreign shopping networks, but they are in short supply.

Hong Kong Customs clarifies online misinformation about embargo masks

*************************************************

According to rumors on the Internet that the government has classified mask products as prohibited items due to political reasons, a spokesman for the Customs and Excise Department today (January 28) solemnly clarified that this would never happen.

Based on risk assessment and intelligence analysis, the Customs and Excise Department conducts customs clearance / sampling inspections on passengers, goods, transportation vehicles and postal parcels at various immigration control points in accordance with the relevant laws of Hong Kong to block illegal goods entering and leaving Hong Kong.

Surgical masks are not prohibited items and controlled items. Customs will not hinder the legal import of surgical masks into Hong Kong.

The list of Hong Kong's import and export controlled and prohibited items is clearly specified in relevant legislation and uploaded to the Customs website (www.customs.gov.hk/tc/trade_facilitation/prohibited_articles/index.html) for public reference.
