Amnesty International confirmed that the package of proposals presented by the administration of US President Donald Trump, called the "Deal of the Century", violated international law and stripped the Palestinians of their rights.
In a statement on its website, the organization called on the international community to reject "the measures that violate international law stipulated in Trump's" deal of the century ", which includes official recognition that Israel will annex the Jordan Valley and the vast majority of the lands on which illegal settlements were built in the rest of the occupied West Bank. ”
The organization noted that "such proposals will not change the legal obligations of Israel as an occupying power under international humanitarian law and international human rights law and will not deprive the Palestinians of the protection guaranteed under these legal frameworks."
The organization pointed out that this deal seeks to undermine international justice shortly after the announcement last month of the progress of an investigation by the International Criminal Court on the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
For his part, Philip Luther, director of research and defense for the Middle East and North Africa at the organization, said that this deal amounts to supporting the brutal and illegal policies of "Israel".
Trump, in a flagrant violation of international resolutions, announced yesterday the sinister terms of the so-called "deal of the century" aimed at liquidating the Palestinian issue at the expense of the rights of the Palestinian people.
The United Nations earlier confirmed its adherence to international legitimacy resolutions in response to Trump's declaration, as United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres announced that "the United Nations remains committed to helping solve the conflict in the Middle East on the basis of United Nations resolutions, international law and bilateral agreements."
