First detailed images of the surface of the Sun

The Daniel K. Inouye telescope of the National Science Foundation of the United States captured the highest resolution images of the Sun's surface to date. What they see is a sample of the turbulent plasma that covers the Sun. Texas-sized giant cells help create the convection process. The telescope will help to understand how space weather can affect the Earth.
