Russia's permanent representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, stressed that helping the Syrians is by lifting the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people from some countries, pointing out that politicizing the humanitarian file is unacceptable.
"The terrorists continue to use civilians in Idlib as human shields and target the humanitarian crossings that the Syrian army has equipped for those wishing to leave the areas controlled by these terrorists," Nebinzia said during a session of the UN Security Council today, stressing the need to continue efforts to combat terrorism until it has defeated all Syrian lands.
Nebenizia pointed out that the American occupation forces are putting obstacles in the way of humanitarian convoys arriving in Al-Rukban camps in southern Syria and Al-Houl northeast, calling on the international community and the United Nations to strengthen its cooperation with the Syrian government on coordinating the entry of humanitarian aid and to join in projects and plans for reconstruction in Syria.
In turn, China's permanent representative to the United Nations, Zhang Junjun, stressed the necessity of respecting Syria's sovereignty, independence, unity, territorial integrity and continuing to fight terrorism until it finally defeats it from Syrian lands.
"Lifting the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed by some countries on Syria is the only way to improve the humanitarian situation in it," Zhang said, calling for facilitating the introduction of aid to those in need in coordination between the Syrian government and the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs OCHA in accordance with international standards and without any politicization.
Zhang reiterated that the solution to the crisis in Syria can only be through a political process led by Syria and without any foreign interference or dictation.
