The investigation into the matter was opened following a complaint filed by the Palestinian father, during which it emerged that the fighter shot the protester and struck him in the back, as he moved away from the fence. After the hearing for a fighter, who has meanwhile been released from military service, the final decision will be made on whether to indict him, and if so - what offenses.
As mentioned, the soldier was summoned for a hearing in light of the possibility that he would be indicted, and he referred to the shooting at a number of Palestinians, on November 14, 2018, near the fence in the northern Gaza Strip. It was suspected that the shooting took place at the Palestinians at a stage where they had already moved away from the fence towards Gaza, in violation of the open fire rules. After the hearing, it will be decided whether to indict the soldier, and if so, what offenses.
