Syrian Bakery: Creating and rehabilitating about 50 bakeries to increase production and reduce waste

Engineer Jalil Ibrahim, General Manager of the General Company for Automated Bakeries, stated that creating Syrian bakeries provides the appropriate ground to increase its competitiveness by uniting all energies and cadres in a smooth and organized work and securing new resources, noting the importance of integrating backup bakeries with the mechanism in a manner that reduces waste and reduces expenses and contributes to improving the quality Producer and standardization of production administratively and technically.

Ibrahim explained in a statement to SANA Economic Bulletin that the merging process has made great strides on the ground by operating and investing bakeries and modernizing and developing production lines in addition to the process of manufacturing and installing modern production lines to secure the need of the company and the private sector also, noting that the completion of manufacturing 8 production lines out of 12 lines during the past year 80 percent of them are local materials through the technical staff in the production unit.

Ibrahim pointed out that a number of measures have been taken to reduce waste and improve production, so 5 mobile bakeries have been established to provide bread in an emergency manner for liberated areas or those with bottlenecks in production, as production lines have been developed in a number of bakeries in addition to creating new modern bakeries in the governorates of Tartous and Lattakia Homs and Hama, indicating that the institution will start experimenting with the production of improved small bread in the city of Damascus in the Yarmouk and Barzeh bakeries.

Ibrahim stressed the continuation and increase of support provided by the state to the loaf industry, while working to increase the number of new ovens in all governorates in addition to the rehabilitation and development of production lines as public bakeries continued to operate without interruption during the crisis period in all regions, pointing to the rehabilitation and creation of about 50 bakeries at a cost of 3 Billions of pounds in various regions, so 32 bakeries were rehabilitated and created, and 14 new bakeries were created in the previous two years, bringing the total number of operating bakeries to 200.
