The Syrian Arab Army units liberated the strategic city of Maarat al-Numan in the southern Idlib countryside from terrorism after violent clashes with terrorist organizations and inflicted heavy losses on personnel and equipment.
A SANA reporter from the Army's area of operations indicated that the army units, after extending their control over the city, began sweeping their neighborhoods and streets to dismantle mines and booby traps.
The reporter stated that the army units are also continuing to comb the farms and hills surrounding the city of Maarat al-Numan to clear the tunnels that terrorist groups were using to conceal the army's targets.
The army units cordoned off the city from three directions and fought violent clashes with "Jabhat al-Nusra" terrorists and the terrorist organizations allied with them in the city and in the surrounding farms and hills, and incurred heavy losses of personnel and equipment before collapsing and retreating towards the north towards Saraqeb and the northwest to Jericho.
