Wuhan pneumonia caused a global shortage of masks, and the market in Hong Kong was severely short of mask supplies. Provide all conveniences to set up factories to produce more than 30 million pieces a year

The government has contacted local companies, including I & T, to supply 1.6 million higher-spec masks per month. It also provides all conveniences to assist Hong Kong businessmen who produce masks in the Mainland and overseas, and will return to Hong Kong to set up factories to produce masks in a short period of time.

Zhang Jianzong added that the government hopes that after returning to Hong Kong to set up factories, the local supply will be increased to 3 million per month, that is, more than 30 million per year. It hopes that the local "self-reliance" cannot rely on imports.

The Hong Kong population of the Census and Statistics Department estimates that there will be about 7.52 million people in the middle of 2019. If one person needs one mask per day, the annual demand will be about 2.745 billion masks.
