From time to time, industrial accidents occur in Hong Kong, causing tragedies. But as technology changes, new engineering techniques can help reduce industrial accidents. Golden Gate Construction stated that it had previously used the technology for manufacturing and assembly (DfMA) to design and install a giant cold water energy storage system in a data center. Greatly reduce accidents caused by working at heights on site. Golden Gate also pointed out that last year, with two sets of high-end remote control cars, it was successfully relocated a tree of over 50 years old on Xisha Road.

From time to time, industrial accidents occur in Hong Kong, causing tragedies. But as technology changes, new engineering techniques can help reduce industrial accidents. Golden Gate Construction stated that it had previously used the technology for manufacturing and assembly (DfMA) to design and install a giant cold water energy storage system in a data center, implemented a comprehensive off-site prefabrication, and reduced the process within the site from 8 months to 4 days. Greatly reduce accidents caused by working at heights on site.

Golden Gate also pointed out that last year, with two sets of high-end remote control cars, it was successfully relocated a tree of over 50 years old on Xisha Road.

Liu Guochang, general manager of Jinmen (mechanical and electrical engineering), said that Kinmen has developed DfMA technology for more than 10 years, implemented off-site prefabrication, and completed most of the processes before the plant. At present, more than 70% to 80% of processes do not need to be started on the site. He said that this technology is being adopted in the second phase of the Global Switch Tseung Kwan O Number Center. The center has a huge data center and needs to provide a large-scale cold water energy storage system to ensure that the supply of chilled water is not affected when the system fails, and the cold water energy storage system among them We are using DfMA.

Liu Guochang pointed out that the team designed four 175 cubic meters of energy storage tanks, each weighing 50 tons, with a diameter of 7 meters and a height of 9 meters, describing it as the most heavyweight DfMA cold water energy storage system. He went on to point out that traditional technology requires 40 workers to spend 8 months working on site, including daily lifting, shed or working at different altitudes; but under DfMA, it only takes 5 months to Fences, ladders, baffles, etc. are completed in the factory, and then transported to the site by barge. Workers can complete the installation in 4 days, greatly reducing high-altitude work or high-temperature work in the site, and reducing the chance of industrial accidents.

The project will inevitably affect the surrounding environment. Huang Songguang, senior project manager of Golden Gate, said that last year, affected by the widening project of Xisha Road, a 170-year-old 50-year-old tree planted by two fine-leaf banyan trees was almost inevitable. However, he pointed out that at that time, the developers believed that trees were an important part of Hong Kong's landscape, and they decided to move the trees to a new public transport interchange to allow the trees to continue to grow.

Huang Songguang pointed out that this tree relocation is the first time in Hong Kong to use two sets of high-end remote control vehicles to relocate trees. The lifting equipment and transportation routes have been planned in advance, and then aerial photography and 3D scanning technology are used to ensure that the trees can be safely transplanted. He also said that in order to prevent the trees from withering, different procedures and instruments are used to monitor the health of the trees.
