Kahner was born in 1935 in Rishpon. In 1953 he enlisted in the IDF and moved to the then secret unit, Unit 101, where he served as an officer. In 1955 he was severely wounded in the stomach during the battle in Nitzana. In the reserve service he continued to serve in the paratroopers, despite his injuries. In that role he participated in battles for the conquest of Jerusalem, and in the years that followed, Ketcha also participated in the war of attrition and the Yom Kippur War, and during the First Lebanon War, he was a brigade commander, and later on his reserve service, was appointed deputy commander of the division.

Kacha was very involved in the affairs of society and country life. During the great waves of immigration of the 1990s, it became an absorption center in the Beit Shean Valley area. Also as a private person he showed involvement and acted out of a sense of mission. Several years ago, he accompanied and assisted the Elmo farm from Beit Shean, which established a center for the study of Ethiopian Jewish heritage. He also made sure to perpetuate the legacy of the paratroopers and their warriors and accepted the invitations he received to meet with young paratroopers. For years, he managed the memorial site on Ammunition Hill, where one of the most difficult battles to conquer Jerusalem during the Six Day War.

A few years ago he told Walla! NEWS about the battles they participated in. "Mota Gore (the paratroopers' commander) told me personally that if we came into the Old City he would prefer that our regiment, which was the oldest and most experienced in the brigade, do so, it prepares us for the said entrance." I had the great privilege of being among the first soldiers They entered on foot through the Lions Gate (to the Old City) after Muta and Ben Tzur (Moshe Ben Tzur, Gur's driver) broke through. I was given a mission to go and take over Nablus Gate, I relied on the maps in my hands and when I got there I saw that it was written "Damascus Gate". "I was confused. I didn't know that that's how the Arabs called him. That's also proof that intelligence wasn't enough."
