The Ministry of the Interior announced that the Criminal Security Branch in Aleppo arrested six people for dealing with them other than the Syrian pound, as part of its follow-up and the prosecution of persons dealing with non-pounds.
The Ministry stated on its Facebook page today that amounts of money estimated at 9 million Syrian pounds and various foreign currencies were seized in the possession of the detainees, noting that, by investigating them, they confessed to practicing the profession of exchange in violation of the law and dealing in non-lira with a view to achieving material profits.
The Ministry indicated that the confiscated amounts were handed over to the Central Bank of Syria in the first place and that the necessary action was taken against them, as they will be presented to the competent judiciary fundamentally.
