The Correctional Services Department replied that all 62-year-old inmates detained in Lai Chi Kok were remanded for theft in late January this year. They need to be monitored at the institution's hospital for diabetes and hypertension. He developed fever and suspected pneumonia yesterday and disclosed to correctional officers that he had visited a Mainland hospital before being remanded. The institution has notified the Center for Health Protection of the case and will transfer the remand person to a public hospital for examination and treatment. The Correctional Services Department stated that other persons in custody who had been in close contact with the remand person in custody are now under quarantine observation. The institution has also taken appropriate precautionary measures and strengthened cleaning and disinfection as recommended by the doctor.
