Yes, one can aspire, and one can also call for sovereignty - but it is not desirable to create pressure levers on the world's most important power president, but to continue the coordination that led to the achievement • The Century Plan is here to stay • Trump gave Israel a gift, not just Benjamin Netanyahu • Commentary

The prime minister has historically supported policies that he has promoted in the name of the national camp for decades, but to exercise it he must exercise caution and patience. Otherwise, history will remain on paper alone, or worse - it will turn to our detriment.

Like many in Israel in general and in the national camp in particular, I also share the sense of satisfaction and joy that the Peace Now concept has finally been replaced by the "Sovereign Now" approach. But unlike the left, whose irresponsible recklessness and inability to reject satisfaction put Israel into security and political crises, some of which have not been resolved to date - the right must, right now, find political restraint. It has always been the difference between the pragmatic right and the reckless left, and it should stay that way.

Having obtained the important and significant presidential statement since President Harry Truman, Netanyahu must share President Trump with realizing history, and perhaps even grant him the right to lead in the first steps. Ultimately, this is also the legacy of the 45th president. And, as President Trump said during the unveiling of the map: "We will set up a joint committee with Israel to make the conceptual map more detailed and accurate, so that we can gain immediate recognition."

Trump gave this achievement to the State of Israel on Netanyahu's shift, not with personal affection, but with the understanding that he, as the prime minister and the strongest right-wing leader Israel has known in decades, will be able to implement it. If he "burns the cash" he received too hastily, resulting in embarrassment to our great ally, or if the left comes to power - Trump's roadmap, with its important promises to Israel, will lose its relevance. Don't be "greedy" and try to catch everything at once, because it's also the shortest way to lose everything.

As we become accustomed to the left-wing agreements, which were tantamount to letters on ice, it is hard for us to internalize that Trump's outline reflects a turnaround; It is real and sustainable. The impulse can be realized tomorrow morning, because who knows what the geopolitical reality will look like tomorrow. But the success of the legislative process to apply sovereignty depends on full American backing. It is clear that it is possible and desirable to take interim measures, as long as it is agreed that applying sovereignty should be done in a coordinated manner.

Yes, one can aspire, and one can also call for sovereignty. But it is not desirable to have a stopwatch in hand and create pressure levers on the world's most important power president, because his government also has political and regional considerations. Should he prove to be a true friend of Israel? After all, he works against Iran more than any of his predecessors, not to mention the unprecedented gestures he has given Israel.

Netanyahu must continue to work with him in close coordination, just as he has done to date, in order for the published paper to become solid facts. For three years, teams have worked on the document, and now it is time to work diligently on fulfilling the outline that will change the region's future for decades and centuries.

This is not something that can be done seriously, even if technically possible, within a few weeks. At the moment, it is also unclear whether Trump will remain in the Oval Room until January 2021 or January 2025. Therefore, it should be assumed that we have one year to succeed in implementing his plan. If we don't use this year properly, it will be a missed opportunity for generations, so it's more important to be accurate than fast.

It is better to let the moves mature, produce agreements, give the US the lead - and only then to fully complete the sovereignty move. If Israel goes on a course that is interpreted as too aggressive in Riyadh and Cairo, the strategic success of the Arab world in mobilizing the Arab world may fade.

We owe a great debt to Trump and his administration, and of course to Jared Kushner, Jason Greenblatt and David Friedman. There has never been a team so attentive to our security and political needs. So, because they have been listening to us for three years, they should listen to them this time.

The last 36 hours were perhaps the best times for Israel since the first day of the Six Day War. Would any of us imagine what Netanyahu achieved 5-3 years or 15 years ago? Of course not. These are conditions that until a while ago were considered an unreachable dream. They established Netanyahu's legacy: securing Israel's future and its status in the international arena.
Netanyahu strived for this goal, but this great achievement was not given to him personally, but to all of Israel, which is why Benny Gantz was also invited to the White House. This plan is here to stay, even for future governments.

The prime minister is facing tremendous pressure to do something now. I appeal to you, the Prime Minister, to do everything you can to stick to Trump's opportunity map, but at the same time, make sure he also has some flexibility so that we can continue to march with Trump and the Sunni world as one.

You have the opportunity to take advantage of the size of the hour and make it historical, but do so in the same path you came so far. If you make the referendum on the implementation of the program, you will also be able to unite the right behind you.
