This news surprises everyone: The Dellnhausen folk music festival, which has attracted thousands of visitors to the Au market every two years, will no longer take place in the Au hop community in 2021.
Au / Wolnzach - Also in 2021 there will be a "Dellnhausen folk music festival" again - however not in Au, but in Wolnzach in the district of Pfaffenhofen, as organizer Michael Eberwein, head of the Dellnhausen musicians, confirmed on request from FT. As a result, the Au market will lose a major event in the coming year at which several thousand visitors in the hop community enjoyed folk music and dance as well as everything that goes with it. This included two major concerts with well-known soloists or groups, a radio recording and a tavern singing, and on the following two weekend days Au was also offered a potpourri of folk music artists on different stages - with free admission.
The reason why the folk music festival is now being relocated is the “free stage concept”, in which visitors were offered folk music, singing and dancing at different locations on Saturday and Sunday. Two of three of these stages are located on the brewery's premises, one in the Bräukeller beer garden, the other directly in front of the castle. In addition to these stages, the rest of the area around the brewery is also integrated for the organization of the festival, which, according to Michael Eberwein, is imperative. And here is the crux of the matter: The Auer brewing facility is undergoing a major renovation this year. That means: the brewery becomes a construction site. Michael Eberwein quoted from the conversation with managing director Michael Beck von Peccoz that the construction work should be completed by July 2021, the new date for the next folk music festival: "But he cannot guarantee it." However, this is absolutely necessary for the planning was, according to Eberwein, which is why they "looked elsewhere".
This is how Wolnzach came into play, which seemed perfectly suitable as a neighboring community and self-proclaimed hop center. At the first conversation with the Mayor of Wolnzach, the euphoria was felt immediately, Eberwein is pleased: "They almost turned somersaults." After two further preliminary talks in the town hall, the festival concept was given the green light at the meeting of the Wolnzach market council on Thursday. This was preceded by the presentation of the concept and the space required as well as the help of the community and the catering trade as well as the use of the Augustiner Festhalle as a location for the concerts. Of course, the imponderables that came with the visit of several thousand guests were also discussed - from the designation of parking spaces to the necessary closures. But all of these problems could be clarified and solved, which is why Michael Eberwein is confident that the 10th Dellnhausen Folk Music Festival will be held successfully: "Wolnzach is a place that has been tried and tested by celebrations."
The mayor says
For Mayor Karl Ecker it is "a shame" that the folk music festival 2021 will no longer take place in Au. At the same time, the city hall manager sees “an opportunity for us to do our homework”. That means: when designing the Au transit, when setting up a play and leisure facility on Klosterberg and when converting the castle (although the municipality has no influence here) "we have to accelerate a bit". When these tasks are done, "we can easily compete with Wolnzach," says Ecker. And he is convinced that this work can be done in two years. Even if the change of location touched him very much: "I can understand the reasons." Now it was important to "not complain and scold", but to act - and to extinguish the "disturbing fires" that delay some measures.

The tenth Dellnhauser folk music festival takes place on the first weekend in July in the Wolnzach market (Pfaffenhofen district).
