"Joker", the film with 11 Oscar nominations 6:38

(CNN) - The UK BAFTA film awards were announced this Sunday.

The World War I drama "1917" led the winners with six awards, including best film and best director for Sam Mendes.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts fueled the controversy earlier this season's awards for the lack of diversity among the nominees. (This year's Oscar nominations got similar reviews.)
