Macau, the world's largest gambling hub, announced Tuesday that it has asked all casinos to suspend operations for two weeks to help curb the expansion. Macau leader Hu Lat Sang's announcement comes after the former Portuguese colony confirmed ten cases of virus infection, and announced strict restrictions on traffic in the peninsula, an administrative area under China's control.

Residents were instructed to wear masks on their faces as they traveled around the city and were asked to stay in their homes as much as possible. The leader added that he would talk to casinos about their temporary closure.

The announcement comes after authorities in China announced another update on the victim count, which rose to 427, with a first victim in Hong Kong - only the second outside China, in addition to the Filipino citizen who died on Sunday. Overall, the number of infections in China has risen to 20,438 while at least 151 cases have been recorded in 23 countries and other provinces.

Most of the victims in China are in the Hubei Province, where, in his capital, Hwan, the virus erupted, between the SARS family of whom little is known. The World Health Organization declared an emergency last week, and efforts are underway to develop a vaccine against the virus that caused heavy economic damage to China - yesterday, the $ 400 billion worth of shares in Shanghai were deleted.

In Hong Kong, hospital staff said the victim, a 39-year-old man, had an existing chronic illness and visited Wuhan in January before falling ill. Hundreds of medical officials in the former British colony whose daughter for the second day in a row have called for the government to completely close the city's borders with mainland China, a day after leader Carrie Lam left three open aisles. To date, 15 cases of the virus have been approved in the city, and yet its public hospital network has difficulty coping with the influx of patients and means to curb the virus.

Hong Kong was severely affected by the SARS virus in 2002, of which nearly 800 people died worldwide. More than a third of them were in town.

Due to the closure of Wuhan and other cities in China, with a population of several hundred million citizens, OPEC oil cartels are considering cutting about one-third the output to lead to rising prices in light of falling demand.

New cases of infection have been reported in the United States, including a California patient who has been in close contact with a person from the same household, who is infected with China. This is the second case of human-to-human spread of the virus in the United States.

"We look forward to seeing more of these cases," said Dr. Nancy Masunier, director of the National Center for Immune Disease and Respiratory Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
