The atmosphere remains stable for the next two days, with the exception of an opportunity for separate showers of rain over the coastal and northwestern regions, accompanied by a temporary rise in temperatures until next Thursday.

The meteorologist Shadi Gawish said in a statement to SANA today that starting from Thursday night and Friday morning, the region is affected by a medium to high effective polar depression and heavy rainfall associated with lightning, thunder and hail, especially over the coastal area.

He added that with the continued arrival of very cold air masses, the effect of the depression will increase during the Friday, as temperatures drop from 7 to 8 degrees Celsius and the precipitation will be snowy over the medium and high mountain heights with the possibility that the snowfall will reach low levels next Saturday.

Gawish pointed out that the depression was accompanied by high-speed winds and active gusts during Friday and Saturday coming to Damascus and the southern region, whose speed exceeds 80 km per hour, sometimes warning of the formation of torrents and soil erosion in valleys and slopes during the depression period.

The atmosphere gradually stabilizes, according to Gawish's expectations, as of next Sunday evening, as cold to extremely cold conditions prevail in most areas, and minimum temperatures approach zero at night in different parts of the country, and ice is expected to occur on mountain heights and frosts in different parts of the interior.

As for tomorrow, temperatures remain about 2 to 4 degrees higher than their average, with the country affected by a weak extension of a surface air elevation accompanied by moist western currents in the upper atmosphere.

And the Directorate General of Meteorology expected in its bulletin this evening that the weather will be partially cloudy in general, which will turn cloudy over the coastal, northern and island regions, with the opportunity for rain showers over those areas.

The wind is southwesterly in the western regions, while it is southeasterly in the eastern areas and the island between light and moderate and the sea is light in high waves.

Expected temperatures:

Damascus 5/17

Southern region 6/18

Mountain heights 10/2

Central region 5/17

The coastal area 10/19

Northern region 5/5

The island area 5/15

Eastern Province 6/18

The Badia region 5/17.
