US conservative radio commentator Rush Limbaugh revealed on broadcast that he was suffering from advanced lung cancer. The senior commentator, 62, told his listeners yesterday that he is out for treatment and so his plan will not be broadcast any time soon. He said the illness was discovered on Jan. 20, after suffering from shortness of breath.

Limbaugh told his listeners that he hopes to re-broadcast his longtime show, "The Limbo Head Show," later this week. "I have to tell you something I wish I didn't have. It's hard for me because I had to update the team earlier today. I can't help but feel disappointed with everyone - I was diagnosed with advanced lung cancer.

"Whoever is listening to the Limbo Prime program now - pray with us, thank you. God bless the Limbo Prime. I love you so much, Prime," the program's producer, Bo Snardley, wrote on Twitter.

The limbo show, which first aired 31 years ago, attracts about 27 million listeners each week and is backed by United States President Donald Trump and other Republican officials. In his plan, he routinely attacks Democrats and staunchly opposed Barack Obama during the 2008 presidential election.

Last month, the commentator signed a long-term contract with Premiere Radio Networks, the company that organizes his program.

"We have great people. Prime just signed another four-year contract," said Trump, who announced the agreement during a rally in Miami. "He only wants four more years, okay?"
