As part of the preparations for the AFC Championship, Al Wathba Club has contracted Nigerian players Cape Leap Akabata and Ozuma Promise.

In a statement to SANA Sports correspondent, President of Al-Wathba Club, Iyad Daraq Al-Sibai, mentioned that the contract comes within the club’s management plan to support the men's soccer team’s attack line in the AFC Cup.

In turn, the team coach, Haitham Jattal, pointed out that the players are currently subjected to technical tests, and that due to the limited time, no friendly matches were held in the presence of Nigerian players, explaining that the intensive training that is currently taking place will achieve harmony between the players.

It is noteworthy that the Al Wathba team is participating for the first time in its history in the AFC Cup after winning the Republic Cup last season.
