Avalanche in eastern Turkey: at least 21 dead

At least 21 people were killed Wednesday when an avalanche fell on dozens of rescuers who had been deployed after a first avalanche in the same place in eastern Turkey, local authorities said.

Quoted by the news agency DHA, the governor of the province of Van, where the disaster occurred, said that the bodies of 12 rescuers and nine civilians had been found. The victims intervened to find survivors after an avalanche which had taken place at the same place the day before.
