China's efforts to control the coronavirus epidemic are at a crucial stage and the authorities must prevent it from spreading, the Xinhua news agency quoted President Xi Jinping as saying on Wednesday.

The government will shortly release new information about the coronavirus outbreak, while also planning to crack down on rumors surrounding the virus, Xi said.
The latter also said that the government would ensure that the donated materials were fully used in the fight against viruses.
