(CNN) - US President Donald Trump will meet with Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaidó at the White House on Wednesday. Guaido attended the Trump State of the Union speech as one of his guests on Tuesday night.
"Today, President Donald J. Trump will welcome interim President Juan Guaidó of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to the White House," according to a White House press release.
"The visit is an opportunity to reaffirm the United States' commitment to the people of Venezuela and to discuss how we can work with President Guaidó to accelerate a democratic transition in Venezuela that will end the current crisis."
Guaidó, recognized as president of Venezuela by more than 50 countries, has already met with U.S. Vice President Mike Pence
