Liberal and conservative rabbis have come out against criticism for giving Rabbi Israel Prize • "LGBT troll", Rabbi Lavi wrote • Rabbi Fall:

LGBT and Liberal organizations came out yesterday (Tuesday) against the decision to award the Israel Prize for Torah Literature to Rabbi Yaakov Ariel, a senior rabbi of religious Zionism, because he has previously published a series of statements against gay and lesbian people. And some have even come out in harsh terms against his opponents.

Rabbi Abraham Fall, one of the most prominent voices of the liberal young rabbis, called for the statements to be proportionate. "A man writes seven Shoah books, heads Yeshivot and Torah institutes, serves as city mayor for twenty-five years, wins Rabbi Kook for Torah Literature, is considered the most important arbiter of religious Zionism, and when he wins the Israel Prize, all he has to write in his headline is A rabbi who said gays are disabled, "he wrote in his Facebook account.

"I have no intention of explaining this statement or trying to justify it. I would not say so myself. But that's not the point at all, I think sometimes, and I say that as a big fan of equality and humanism, that we have lost a little bit of proportion. The way to produce a healthier and more repaired bush here, "Rabbi Fall added.

Rabbi Yoni Lavi also came out strongly against the attack. In an unusual statement to the rabbi, who usually stays in consensus, wrote in his Facebook account "The LGBT troll will also try to confuse the public this time, but speaking the real question is this: how did it not happen to this day ?! Why were you waiting so far to give the award to one of the most deserving people in the country ?! ".

Rabbi Lavi noted that "most (also religious) publics have almost no idea that this is a Torah giant and a spiritual leader who will take years to appreciate his work. This is the most important arbiter of religious Zionism today. For years he served as a guide to countless rabbis and organizations. He wrote seven important Q&A books and dozens of groundbreaking Torah articles and rulings, and finally addressed Rabbi Ariel: "It is an honor for the State of Israel to award the prize to a man like you."

The heads of the Ramat Gan yeshiva, Yehoshua Shapira and Ben Zion Algazi, together with the head of the Association of the Settlement Association's Uri Pinsky, sent a greeting to Rabbi Ariel. "We would like to congratulate the rabbi, the president and founder of the yeshiva, on his part in being selected to receive the Israel Prize for Torah Literature. We congratulate the people of Israel who are honored and recognized for decades of Torah leadership, for deepening and learning that serve as an exemplar to many Torah rabbis in Israel and around the world, For decades of deep and honest adjudication and deep involvement in the Torah leadership in the entire nation of Israel. Here in our meeting, we won and our rabbi stands in the yeshiva's presidency and has been teaching his special teachings for more than half a century. The rabbi has continued to lead generations of wise students who are breastfeeding from his unique teachings.
