If she is re-elected, the mayor PS of Paris intends to meddle in criminal response, vis-à-vis juvenile delinquents in particular.

The mayor of Paris Anne Hidalgo promises, if she is re-elected in March, a "Parisian work agency of general interest" for juvenile delinquents. If delinquency has jumped in the capital, with a 12% increase in property crimes, 31% for pickpocketing, 8% for personal violence last year, that of minors has increased by 30% between 2017 and 2019.

“If I am re-elected, I will create, in connection with the justice system, a Parisian agency for community service responsible for implementing the reparation measures pronounced against juvenile delinquents. I also want to set up a zero school system in the street to fight against dropping out of school, ”she said in an interview with L'Obs.

Hidalgo wants a “parity” municipal police force in Paris

Community service (TIG) is unpaid work, carried out for the benefit of an association or a public service, by decision of a criminal judge. The law provides that it concerns minors from 16 years old. Since March 25, 2019, a minor aged 16 at the time of conviction can be subject to a TIG if he was at least 13 years old when he committed the offense.

In this interview, the elected socialist also reaffirms "do not doubt" that the parliament will vote on a text "after the municipal elections" in March, allowing the establishment in the capital of a municipal police force with 5,000 agents. She adds that she wants it to be "equal", that is to say made up of as many men as women, "responsible for enforcing the rules of everyday life".

Unlike Rachida Dati and Benjamin Griveaux, she does not want armed municipal police. At the end of November, an amendment, tabled by the socialist group and which would have allowed the creation of this municipal police force in the capital, was rejected in committee at the National Assembly by the majority of the elected LREM. Since then, Benjamin Griveaux, MP for Paris, has tabled a bill to create it.
