Japan ’s Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare stated on February 7 that an additional 41 people have been diagnosed with the new type of pneumonia on the “Princess Diamond” currently docked at Daikoku Pier in Yokohama. Together with the 20 people diagnosed earlier, a total of 61 people were confirmed in the Diamond Princess.
The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare pointed out on the 6th that none of the 10 latest confirmed cases had any close contact with Hong Kong male patients who were positive for the new virus after disembarking from Hong Kong. The 10 people included 4 Japanese, 2 Americans, 2 Canadians, 1 New Zealander and 1 Taiwanese. All were passengers and aged between 50 and 70.
On the 3rd, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare began a physical examination of 3,700 passengers and crew on board, and samples were taken from 273 of them who had symptoms such as fever or those who had close contact with them for further testing. Of the 10 confirmed cases announced on the 5th, 3 were from Hong Kong, and another 10 were confirmed to be infected on the 6th.
