(CNN) - The helicopter carrying Kobe Bryant, her daughter and 7 others quickly descended at a speed of more than 1,200 meters (4,000 feet) per minute immediately before crashing on a hillside in Calabasas, California, the National Board said of US Transportation Security (NTSB) on Friday in a preliminary report.
The helicopter pilot told air traffic controllers that he was climbing 4,000 feet on Highway 101 in Calabasas, NTSB researchers said. The radar showed that the helicopter reached 2,300 feet high before turning left.
"Eight seconds later, the plane began to descend and the left turn continued," the report said. “The descent speed increased to more than 4,000 feet per minute (fpm), the forward speed reached 160 knots. The last ADS-B target was received at 1,200 feet msl approximately 400 feet southwest of the accident site. ”
