The pneumonia epidemic in Wuhan has spread in Hong Kong. A compulsory quarantine order has been implemented in Hong Kong this morning (8th). Mrs Lam said that as of 4:00 pm today, the first 16 hours of the entry into force of compulsory quarantine, there were a total of 8,953 immigrants in Hong Kong, and more than nine of them were international visitors entering Hong Kong through the international airport. On land, 807 people entered, of which 682 passed the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and 125 passed the Shenzhen Bay.

Of the nearly 9,000 immigrants, 161 are subject to compulsory quarantine, 143 are Hong Kong residents, and 18 are non-Hong Kong residents; 148 are quarantine at home; 11 are quarantine at hotels; 2 are arranged to stay in the government temporarily Facilities are Sai Kung Outdoor Recreation Centre and Cao Gongtan Outdoor Recreation Centre.

Asked why the number of people who had to undergo compulsory quarantine accounted for only 1.8% of the total number of arrivals, Lin Zheng explained that most people are international visitors who entered through Hong Kong's international airport and do not fall into the scope of quarantine. Of the 682 people who entered the bridge, most were Macao or Hong Kong people who entered through Macao, and they were not included in the quarantine scope.

Real-time location monitoring with Whatsapp or WeChat

Lin Zhengyue said that the authorities have three methods to ensure that people undergoing compulsory quarantine have not left home, including telephone contact, random door-to-door "unexpected" home visits, and newly announced WhatsApp or WeChat, real-time location monitoring. Lin Zhengxu said that the police had "raided" home visits ten times today, and all of them were at home.
