The American actor and comedian Orson Bean , who animated with his ingenuity different television programs, played the role of a grumpy merchant in Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman and participated in the series Desperate Housewives, died after being hit by a car in Los Angeles, authorities said. He was 91 years old .
The forensic office confirmed that the death occurred on Friday , February 7 at night due to a "traffic" accident.
A man was crossing an intersection in the neighborhood of Venice when he grazed and knocked down a car . A second vehicle hit him and killed him , police officer Drake Madison said . The two drivers remained at the scene, neither suffered injuries and it is considered an accident, he added.

Bean acted in several films, mainly Anatomy of a Murder ( Anatomy of a Murder , 1959) and Being John Malkovich ( Do you want to be John Malkovich?, 1999), and in several major Broadway productions. In 1962 he was nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in the musical comedy Subways are for Sleeping . But the audience remembers him mostly as a television actor.

Born in Burlington , Vermont , in 1928 with the name Dallas Frederick Burrows , he never lost his Northeast accent, ideal for those stories that made him famous as a popular humorist. He chose the name Orson Bean " because it sounded funny ."
In the 90s he played the role of shopkeeper Loren Bray in western Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman (1993-1998 , who was on the air for six seasons. More recently, he appeared as a guest artist in Desperate Housewives (2004-2012) , How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014) , Modern Family (2009-) and other programs.
He was married twice, had a daughter from his first marriage and two sons and a daughter from the second.
