"Lassie" returned home: Fire fighters at Kiryat Malachi station rescued a bitch who was trapped beneath a private home in the city on Saturday. The dog's owner discovered her under the house's foundations after being absent for several days - about six feet deep, and called the fire and rescue services.
The fire fighters who arrived at the scene immediately noticed the bitch, and began operations to widen the water drainage where she was trapped by Capricorn, while the heavy rain that was in the area threatened to drown the bitch and made it difficult to rescue.

After about three hours of evacuation of mud, water and debris, the fighters, assisted by Ashkelon Station fighters and civilians arriving at the scene with excavation equipment, extracted the bitch that despite the mud, hunger and rain was not harmed and ran to its owner.
Lahav Commander Elkanah Biton, who participated in the rescue, said: "The rescue was very complex, and the work - really an ant work was done in stages. Because there was a danger to the dog and the mud was piling in the entrance lane."
