A Kuwait man and woman have been arrested for an allegedly innocent video of less than half a minute. However, the local authorities did not think he was innocent, came to their house and arrested them on charges of "breach of public modesty laws"

Kuwait spouses were arrested by local police at the end of last month after they uploaded a video in which the man merely brushes his wife's hair. Local media have reported that the couple was arrested at their home after the clip uploaded to Twitter was tagged as "immoral" and caused serious controversy in the radical Islamic State.

In the video you can see the unidentified man combing his wife as the two laugh and he wraps it in his arms as she talks to the camera and prides herself on her hair. Local police investigators watched this video and were able to identify the couple and then arrived at their home and arrested them. The two were indicted on charges of "breach of modesty in public".

The local media reportedly released the video to create a provocation and knowing it would cause criticism and prosecution. If this is the case, it is unclear why they decided to do so, perhaps to create a discourse against the regime's extremes - after a man in November questioned a video announcing he was contesting to find the woman with the most beautiful legs. To the extent that they did, they did get the attention they wanted - though the punishment they might receive would make them regret it.
