The Cyprus Supreme Court on Saturday accepted the motion of appeal from the 19-year-old British lawyer, who was convicted of harassing the public two months ago. This, after she filed a rape complaint by Israeli boys who visited the island. The first hearing on the issue is expected to take place on March 3, but the appeal is expected to be heard at a later date, which is yet to be decided.

In early January, the Pammagusta County court sentenced the young woman to a four-month suspended sentence for a three-year sentence and a fine of € 140. This was after she was convicted in December of tearing down the public for allegedly making a false complaint about the rape she claims she experienced. Her attorneys say police investigators have charged her with rape fiction, unlawfully, and with undue pressure.

In its appeal, lawyers from the Justice Abroad Organization on behalf of the Supreme Court in Cyprus claim that the British have "been unfairly tried". Among other things, defense attorneys claim that "Israelis had to be summoned to testify." They argue that the court did not take into account the failure of the prosecution to present evidence to prove what happened on the night of the rape in the hotel room by failing to summon Israeli boys to give evidence. According to them, the court was left only with the testimony of the young woman about being done in that room and should not have determined on the criminal level that she was lying because she was raped as a result.

The appeal alleges that the young woman's confession should not have been accepted because she allegedly made her complaint, given that she had been obtained after being detained at the police station for almost seven hours, with no lawyer and no interpreter. Furthermore, her return statement is unreliable and should have been exceeded due to a post-traumatic disorder she suffers from, and her social media posts show that she was under great pressure to return her from the rape complaint.

It was also alleged that the district court judge did not allow a fair hearing to the British and locked his mind to an essential element of the offense by continuously shouting 'This is not a rape trial, I do not want to hear evidence of rape'. It is also contended that the court did not take into account the failure of the law authorities to conduct a proper investigation into the rape.
