The outbreak of the new type of coronavirus pneumonia in Hong Kong has continued. From the early morning of yesterday (8th), all immigrants from the Mainland will have to undergo forced quarantine inspection at home, hotels or closed management camps for 14 days after arriving in Hong Kong. On the first day of implementation of the new measures, a total of 23,399 people entered the country, a 72,583 decrease from the previous day (7th), a drop of 75.6%. Among the immigrants, there were 18,823 Hong Kong residents and 995 Mainland visitors, accounting for about 4.3% of the total number of arrivals. Mainland immigrants fell 92.2% from the previous day.

According to figures from the Immigration Department, 23,399 people entered yesterday (8th), a 72,583 decrease from the day before (7th). Of these, 18,823 were Hong Kong residents, 3,581 were other visitors, and 995 were Mainland visitors. The number of Mainland visitors decreased by 11,751 from the previous day, a sharp drop of 92.2%.
As for the classification by three ports, a total of 254 people entered through the Shenzhen Bay Port throughout the day, accounting for about 1% of the total number of arrivals, of which 208 were Hong Kong residents, 43 were Mainland visitors, and 3 were other visitors. Another 1,176 people entered via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, including 659 Hong Kong residents, 9 Mainland visitors, and 508 other visitors.
In addition, more than 22,000 people entered the airport, a decrease of 6,844 from the previous day. Passenger arrivals through the airport accounted for more than 94% of the total, of which 17,956 were Hong Kong residents, 943 were Mainland visitors, and 3,070 were other visitors.
As for the number of outbound visitors, yesterday, a total of 29,089 people departed from Hong Kong yesterday, a decrease of about 50% as compared with 57,988 the day before. Among them, 22,204 were Hong Kong residents, 4,244 were other visitors, and 2,641 were Mainland visitors. The number of Mainland visitors decreased by 8,478 from the previous day, a sharp drop of 76.2%. Among the three ports, the number of departures via the airport was the largest, reaching 24,543, accounting for 84% of the total, followed by the Shenzhen Bay Port with a total of 3,191, and 1,355 also departing through the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Port.
The largest number of Hong Kong residents departing through the airport reached 20,163, followed by 1,291 leaving via Shenzhen Bay Port and another 750 leaving via Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Port. As for mainland visitors, 1,127 people departed via the airport, 1,351 departed via the Shenzhen Bay Port, and 163 departed via the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Port. A total of 4,244 other visitors departed via three ports.
